Sierra Providence East Medical Center opened in May 2008 to serve the needs of east El Paso's growing community. Located at Edgemere and Loop 375, the 182-bed hospital has 6 Neonatal Intensive Care beds, 24 Intensive Care Unit beds, and a 38-bed Emergency Department. In addition the facility has 139 adult beds among its Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, and Orthopedic/Neurosurgery units.

At the Birthing Center in Women’s Services, families have access to a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), 10-bed Labor and Delivery Unit, C-section rooms and Parents’ Sleep Room. Sierra Providence East Surgical Services features eight operating rooms, four endoscopy rooms and a Pre-Operative Testing Center to meet the range of surgical specialties provided. In late 2010 the hospital expanded its Cardiac Service line by adding Electrophysiology.

The hospital is proud to announce receiving its latest accolade of Stroke Certification by The Joint Commission, which further enhances its Emergency Services. In addition the department provides cardiac and invasive monitoring and the staff uses protocols for effective care, such as rapid administration of therapies including thromboplasminogen activator (TPA) for patients with heart attack symptoms.
